Donkey Kong Action Figure NINTENDO Super Smash Bros game 1994 Toy Hobby Takara

Step into the golden age of Nintendo collectibles with this Donkey Kong action figure from 1994, produced by Takara. Featuring the iconic barrel-throwing ape who launched Nintendo's arcade dominance in 1981 and later became a cornerstone of the Super Smash Bros. roster, this figure captures a piece of gaming history that continues to resonate with collectors around the world. Whether you're a longtime Donkey Kong fan, a Nintendo completist, or a collector of vintage Japanese toys, this piece brings a nostalgic slice of the 1990s Nintendo era straight to your shelf.

This figure was released in 1994 under the Nintendo license and manufactured by Takara, one of Japan's most respected toy makers known for their contributions to character merchandise throughout the '80s and '90s. The figure depicts Donkey Kong, the great ape hero of his own long-running franchise and one of the founding fighters of the Super Smash Bros. series. Beyond what is confirmed by the title — the character, the 1994 release year, the Nintendo license, and the Takara manufacturing origin — no additional specifications are claimed here, so buyers can evaluate the figure based on the photos provided in the listing.

Donkey Kong holds a unique place in Nintendo's history, bridging the arcade era with the console generations that followed. By 1994, Donkey Kong was enjoying a major revival thanks to the release of Donkey Kong Country on the Super Famicom/SNES, which reintroduced the character to a new generation of players. Merchandise from this specific window is particularly sought after by collectors because it represents a turning point for the franchise. Japanese-market toys from this era are especially prized: they were often produced in smaller runs, packaged with Japanese-language artwork, and sold primarily through domestic retailers, making them harder to find abroad. Takara-produced Nintendo items in particular carry additional collector appeal thanks to the brand's reputation for quality character figures.

On display, a vintage Donkey Kong figure like this makes a strong centerpiece for any Nintendo-themed shelf, retro gaming setup, or Super Smash Bros. collection. It pairs well alongside other classic Nintendo character figures from the same era, and its 1990s aesthetic gives it a distinctly nostalgic presence next to more modern figures such as amiibo or Nendoroids. For fans who grew up with Donkey Kong Country, or who remember queuing quarters for the original arcade cabinet, this figure serves as a tangible connection to those formative gaming memories.

Sourced and shipped from Japan by HD Toys Store Japan, this Donkey Kong figure is a solid addition for collectors focused on vintage Nintendo merchandise, Takara-produced character toys, or Super Smash Bros. history.
