Shipping Policy
All items ship directly from our Tokyo location. This page summarizes our shipping practices. For the complete legal version, see Shopify Shipping Policy.
Processing Time
Orders are prepared and dispatched within 1-10 business days after payment is confirmed. Most orders ship within 3-5 business days. Processing includes retrieval from inventory, final pre-shipment inspection, and protective packaging. Please allow additional time during holidays or peak periods (Golden Week in early May, Obon in mid-August, New Year in late December/early January).
Shipping Methods
We use fully tracked international shipping services. The optimal carrier is selected based on item size, weight, destination, and declared value:
- Japan Post (Tracked Small Parcel / EMS) - registered with full tracking; base insurance up to USD 100 is included. Economy option for most destinations.
- FedEx International Priority - fast tracked delivery with higher insurance available. Typical for mid-to-high value items.
- DHL Express - premium option for urgent or high-value orders. Fastest transit times.
- UPS - select destinations where UPS offers better rates or coverage than alternatives.
Transit Time After Dispatch
Delivery times (after dispatch from Tokyo):
- US, Canada, EU (UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Netherlands): typically 5-14 days
- Australia, New Zealand: 7-14 days
- Asia (ex-Japan), Middle East: 5-10 days
- Central/South America, Africa, Oceania (ex-AU/NZ): 7-21 days
Delivery times are estimates provided by the carrier. We are not liable for delays caused by customs inspection, weather, strikes, or carrier operational conditions. Most delays are within the normal range and resolve without action needed.
Shipping Costs
Shipping is calculated at checkout based on destination, total weight, and the carrier option selected. Rates shown at checkout are the final shipping cost from us; they do not include any customs duties or import taxes that may be collected at delivery (see below).
Customs Duties & Import Taxes
International buyers are responsible for any customs duties, import taxes, VAT, or customs processing fees levied by the destination country. These fees are not included in the product price or shipping cost. They are collected by the carrier at delivery or customs release. Fees vary by country, declared value, and product category.
We declare accurate paid value on all shipments as required by Japanese export regulations and carrier policy. We do not under-declare value or mark shipments as gifts.
Tracking
A tracking number is provided in your shipping confirmation email within 24 hours of dispatch. All shipments are tracked end-to-end.
Lost or Damaged in Transit
All packages include base carrier insurance. If your tracked package shows no movement for 30+ days after dispatch, or arrives visibly damaged, contact us at info@hdtoysjapan.com within 48 hours of the delivery or non-delivery event. We coordinate the carrier claim with you. Remedies depend on claim outcome and insurance coverage, and typically include replacement (if available) or refund.
Address Accuracy
Buyers are responsible for providing accurate shipping addresses at checkout. If a package is returned to us due to an incorrect address, unclaimed status, or failure to pay import duties, we can either refund the item cost minus round-trip shipping, or re-ship at the buyer's additional expense.
