Sylphia PC Engine CD-ROM² Complete Set Shooting Game for PCE Duo Console Classic

Sylphia is a vertical-scrolling shooting game released for the PC Engine CD-ROM², NEC's pioneering CD-based add-on for the PC Engine (known outside Japan as the TurboGrafx-16). Originally released in Japan in the early 1990s, Sylphia stands out among the PCE shooter library for its fantasy-themed setting, striking anime-style cutscenes made possible by the CD format, and arranged soundtrack that takes full advantage of Red Book audio. This listing is for a complete set, making it an appealing pickup for collectors building a comprehensive PC Engine CD library or for shoot-'em-up enthusiasts who want to experience one of the system's more memorable genre entries in its original Japanese release.

The title confirms this is the PC Engine CD-ROM² version of Sylphia, offered as a complete set and compatible with the PC Engine Duo console as well as other CD-ROM²-capable PCE hardware configurations. As a Japanese release, the game is region-coded for Japanese PC Engine systems and features Japanese text and packaging. Being a "complete set" indicates the listing includes the components typically associated with a boxed PC Engine CD release of this title; please refer to the product photos for the exact contents and condition of the specific copy on offer.

Within the broader PC Engine CD catalog, Sylphia occupies a niche spot that has grown in demand over the years. The PC Engine CD-ROM² library is particularly prized by shoot-'em-up collectors because the platform hosted a strong lineup of exclusives and enhanced ports, and many titles never saw a Western release. Sylphia is one of those Japan-only releases, which is a major reason original copies continue to circulate primarily through Japanese collectors and resellers. Pre-owned PC Engine CD games sourced directly from Japan are valued for their authenticity, their original jewel cases and spine cards, and the fact that they were originally sold into the domestic market where the hardware had its strongest following.

This is a pre-owned item that has been inspected prior to listing and ships from Japan. As with any vintage CD-ROM² release that is roughly three decades old, the original packaging, inserts, and disc may show signs of age and handling such as shelf wear, minor scuffs, or slight discoloration. We do not claim this item to be sealed or in mint condition unless specifically stated; buyers should review the photographs carefully, as those images represent the actual item you will receive.

Displayed on a shelf, Sylphia fits naturally alongside other PC Engine CD-ROM² titles with its characteristic jewel case format and Japanese cover artwork. For collectors who own a PC Engine Duo, Duo-R, Duo-RX, or an original PC Engine paired with the CD-ROM² and Interface Unit, this is a title worth adding both for play value and shelf presence. The combination of fantasy themes, vertical shooter gameplay, and CD-era presentation gives Sylphia an identity that distinguishes it from the more well-known horizontal shooters on the platform, and finding a complete Japanese copy in good condition becomes more difficult with each passing year.

Whether you are an active PC Engine player looking to expand your shooter rotation, a collector focused on completing the CD-ROM² catalog, or an importer who appreciates Japan-exclusive releases from the 16-bit era, this complete set of Sylphia is a solid addition. Shipping is handled from Japan with care appropriate to vintage CD-based media, and we are happy to answer any questions about the specific condition of this copy before purchase.
