Transformers Animated TA-20 Decepticon Blackout MISB Limited Edition Takara Tomy

The Transformers Animated TA-20 Decepticon Blackout is a Takara Tomy release from the Japanese version of the Transformers Animated line, a series that brought a bold, stylized take on the Transformers mythos to a new generation of fans. Blackout, a towering Decepticon helicopter originally popularized in the 2007 live-action film, was reimagined and folded into the Animated continuity by Takara Tomy as part of its expanded TA numbered lineup. For collectors of Transformers Animated figures, the Japanese TA releases are especially sought after because they often include unique packaging, bilingual tech specs, and the signature Takara Tomy build quality that distinguishes them from the Hasbro counterparts.

This listing is for the TA-20 Decepticon Blackout figure, released by Takara Tomy under the Transformers Animated banner. The figure is marked as a Limited Edition release and is listed in MISB (Mint In Sealed Box) condition, meaning it has remained in its factory-sealed packaging since release. As a numbered entry in the TA lineup, Blackout slots into the broader Takara Tomy Animated catalog alongside other Autobot and Decepticon figures that collectors continue to chase down years after the line concluded. No additional specifications beyond what the title confirms are claimed here — the figure is presented as it was issued by Takara Tomy, in its original sealed box.

Within the wider Transformers collecting community, the Animated series holds a particular place of affection. Its distinctive art style, inspired by Western animation and tokusatsu design sensibilities, gave the toyline a look unlike any other Transformers era. Takara Tomy's Japanese releases, in turn, have become increasingly difficult to find in good condition as the years go on. Blackout as a character carries weight across multiple Transformers continuities, and seeing him realized in the Animated aesthetic — with Takara Tomy's packaging and presentation — makes TA-20 one of the more memorable entries in the Japanese Animated lineup. Pre-owned and sealed examples sourced directly from Japan are prized because they represent the original domestic release, often with intact seals, inserts, and packaging artwork that overseas versions simply don't replicate.

This item has been inspected prior to listing and is being shipped directly from Japan. While it is described as MISB, please note that as a pre-owned collectible that has spent time in storage, the outer packaging may show minor shelf wear, light scuffs, edge rubbing, or storage marks consistent with its age. The internal figure remains factory sealed. We do not alter or refurbish packaging, and we encourage collectors who want absolute cosmetic perfection on the outer box to reach out with any questions before purchase. What you see is an authentic Takara Tomy release that has been preserved rather than opened or displayed.

On display, a sealed TA-20 Blackout makes for a striking shelf piece, particularly for fans building out a complete Transformers Animated TA run or a dedicated Decepticon shelf. The Takara Tomy box art and the Animated line's bold color palette translate well to a glass cabinet or detolf-style setup, and sealed examples carry an extra visual weight that loose figures simply can't match. Whether the goal is long-term preservation as part of an investment-grade collection, or simply the satisfaction of owning a Japanese-market Animated release in its original packaging, Blackout TA-20 delivers on both fronts.

For collectors who have been working to complete the Takara Tomy Transformers Animated TA numbering, or for Blackout fans wanting to see the character realized in the Animated style, this is a chance to add a sealed Japanese release to the collection. Items like this one — pre-owned, carefully stored, and sourced from Japan — are becoming harder to locate as time passes and existing inventory moves into permanent collections. HD Toys Store Japan is pleased to offer this piece to collectors worldwide, and we welcome any questions about condition or shipping before you commit to the order.
