Released in 2013, this figure launched the MAFEX (Medicom Action Figure EX) series, a line created to combine high articulation with the detailed sculpting and faithful character design that Medicom had built its reputation on. For Marvel collectors, and Spider-Man fans in particular, owning MAFEX No.001 carries a special significance: it is the figure that started the entire line, and it set the tone for every MAFEX release that followed.

As indicated by the title, this is the first numbered release (No.001) in the MAFEX series, produced by Medicom Toy in 2013, depicting Marvel's Amazing Spider-Man. The figure captures the classic comic-styled Spider-Man rather than a specific film adaptation, which has long made it a favorite among purist Marvel collectors who prefer the traditional red-and-blue costume design. Being a MAFEX release, it belongs to Medicom's hobby-grade action figure line, aimed at adult collectors who appreciate poseability alongside display-ready presentation.

Within the broader MAFEX catalog, No.001 holds a unique place as the figure that introduced collectors to the format. The line has since expanded to cover a wide range of Marvel, DC, and other licensed properties, with later Spider-Man variants and reissues following in its wake. However, the original 2013 release is increasingly difficult to find in good condition on the secondary market, and its status as the inaugural number in the series gives it lasting appeal for completists. Collectibles sourced from Japan are especially valued because figures released in the domestic market are typically handled carefully by hobbyists, and the Japanese collector culture tends to preserve original boxes and inserts far better than general retail circulation elsewhere.

This is a pre-owned item that has been inspected before listing and ships directly from Japan. As with any figure of this age, the original packaging may show some signs of handling, shelf wear, minor creasing, or light storage marks. We do not represent this item as factory sealed or mint. Buyers should expect a genuine previously owned collectible that has aged naturally, with any notable condition points reflected in the listing photos wherever possible.

On display, the MAFEX Spider-Man suits both solo shelves and larger Marvel groupings, pairing well with other MAFEX, figuarts, or comic-style Marvel figures of similar scale. Its appeal lies not only in the character but in its role as a piece of modern collectible history, a figure that opened the door to a line now considered a benchmark for Western superhero figures made in Japan. For long-time Spider-Man fans, MAFEX enthusiasts, or collectors building out the early numbers of the series, this 2013 Medicom Toy release remains a meaningful pickup.

This pre-owned item has been carefully inspected and is shipped directly from Japan with tracking.

Shipped from Japan with tracking number

Carefully inspected for authenticity and condition

Pre-owned condition documented with detailed photos

Secure packaging for international shipping

Condition: Pre-Owned

This item is also available on eBay.

Browse more Scale Figures from Japan:

View our Scale Figures collection →

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0724/9284/3077/files/s-l1600_4e752874-8e15-483f-9028-f518fe1248ec.jpg?v=1791219951
https://hdtoysjapan.com/products/mafex-no-001-the-amazing-spider-man-marvel-action-figure-hobby-2013-medicom-toy
